THE CORNY 40

CornyForty SCORING THE ACO TOP GUNS. If someone asked you to name the 40 best cornhole players in the country, what would you do? Show them the CornyForty of course. It’s how the ACO ranks top players and pre-qualifies them for ACO Pro Tour events. These are the ACO “Top Guns.” Players on this list pre-qualify for the ACO Nationals “King of Cornhole,” the World Cornhole Championship downtown Cincinnati and events in between. How do I get on the CornyForty list? First, be a good American Cornhole player. I mean really, really, really good. Then you earn CornyForty points by taking an annual Skills Challenge and kicking butt in special ACO Top Gun events. If you earn enough points, you make the list! 1. Skills Challenge CornyForty players need to take at least one Skills Challenge each calendar year. If you take more than one, only your highest score is added to your annual CornyForty point total. For example, if you score 95 the first time and 103 the second time, you’ll gain 103 CornyForty points from your Skills Challenge. So it pays to try the Skills Challenge more than once. 2. ACO Top Gun eventsThis is where you earn CornyForty points by finishing well in specially-designated tournaments throughout the season. For example, the top eight finishers at the 2008 ACO Nationals in Las Vegas all earned points toward their CornyForty score. Other ACO Top Gun events include the four ACO-branded annual tournaments: Icehole Classic (Feb); Cornhole de Mayo (May 3); Maize Craze (July); Turkeyhole Classic (Nov). Watch for more ACO Top Gun opportunities as the season goes. Some are worth more than others. Top tier events (Top Gun 1) are open to ACO Pros only. (An ACO Pro is a player with 113+ CornyForty points or a Skills Challenge score of 95+.) Other ACO Top Gun tier events are open to all players. As the table below shows, even less competitive, lower tier events give players a chance to earn CornyForty points. CORNY-FORTY POINT VALUE CHART Events: TopGun1 (T1) / TopGun2 (T2) / TopGun3 (T3) / TopGun4 (T4) First Place 48 / 24 / 16 / 8 Second Place 42 / 21 / 14 / 7 Top 4 Finish 30 / 15 / 10 / 5 Top 8 Finish 18 / 9 / 6 / 3 What determines the level of TopGun Event? Answer: The total number of ACO Pros and Semi Pros involved in the field determine the level of competition from which we gauge the strength of the tournament. The breakdown is as follows. TopGun1 - ACO Pros only TopGun2 - 13 or more ACO Pros or Semi-Pros TopGun3 - 6 - 12 ACO Pros or Semi-Pros TopGun4 - 5 or less ACO Pros or Semi-Pros Any player that thinks he or she is any good at cornhole is crazy not to track down an ACO agent and receive and official "SCR" score. August 16th is currently the only official ACO-Pro event on the calendar for the 2008 so far. We are trying to develop an event in Chicago and Atlanta as well for this season. Krogers and Hudy Delight are sponsoring the ACO - World Cornhole Championship an event benefitting the Easter Seals Work Resource Center. Sponsored by Krogers and Hudy Delight Last years participants battled for a $5000.00 purse - Matt Guy walked away with $3000.00 for first place and Steve Vanderver claimed $1000.00 for second. We hope to make the purse even bigger for this years event. It doesn't matter how big the purse is if you aren't one of the best 16 players in the country accornding to the ACO CornyForty you will not be competing for the BIG MONEY! Benefiting the Easter Seals Work Resource Center of Cincinnati AUGUST 16th, 2008 - DOWNTOWN CINCINNATI - FOUNTAIN SQUARE Who will be invited to play? THE TOP 16 ACO CornyForty Players or in other words the best American Cornhole players in the world. Here is currently the field as of 3/31/08 - this will change with the final field be setting after the ACO MaizeKraze event runs late July in various cities across the country from Las Vegas to Atlanta. The ACO will then publish the final field by the first Saturday in August.
